I'm Sarah - a 21 year old Maltese amateur photographer and fourth year University student studying for Doctor of Medicine and Surgery. I am a lover of photography, nature, light, science, music, and gadgets. I am an avid thinker and enjoy adventure, experimentation and learning.
While I often say photography is my hobby, it has become more than just that - it is simply one of my life's essentials. It has changed how I see the world around me. It is the medium which helps me to discover myself, bring the images I see in my head to life, express my thoughts and immortalize what my human eyes cannot. It also helps me to understand and be inspired by people from all over the world - and likewise wish to be of similar inspiration to others.
Science and art are of equal importance to me. They are both fascinating, challenging, and also require lifelong learning; and that is part of the fun. Seeing and creating photographs fulfills the creative side of me that, like my scientific side, effortlessly steals my attention.
I've loved art in its many forms for as long as my memory serves me. I was 13 when I first started to realize the particular love I had for composing and capturing images with the compact cameras I could get my hands on. By means of my own effort, in 2011 I saved up enough to buy my first dSLR and, ever since, I have not regretted it.
Outside photography, I love music, sleeping late, travelling, science, thinking, reading reviews about all sorts of cameras and lenses, drawing/sketching and shopping. Among the little things in life that I have a soft spot for are butterflies, sparkly objects, rainbows, strawberries, chocolate/sweets, instant film cameras and blue eyes. I enjoy occasionally playing guitar and have previously performed on stage. While enjoying my alone-time, I do also very much enjoy socializing and engaging in casual conversation with interesting people from all over the world. I always have something to keep me busy, so boredom is not a word in my dictionary.
I've been around dA for over four years, just with a different account on which I shared more drawings rather than photos, as x-Sassy-x. Starting afresh sounded like a better idea.
Canon EOS 600D

Dream come true. Made possible as I won a voucher for winning a local competition.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Used to be one of my favorites and have used it a lot, but I prefer my 40mm now.
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Only use this if I really require wide-angle or handy zoom.
