Hello everyone!
Hope you're all doing well. I'm still in Scotland (and a little upset that time is passing too quickly and I only have another two weeks before I'm back in sweltering Malta). I love this country so much, and I love being independent. The only thing I'm missing are my six gorgeous bunnies - the five babies were still half adult size when I left home; they're going to be so big when I'm back!
I can't wait till my last year as a medical student is over so everything I have been wishing for can finally start rolling - moving permanently to the UK, graduating and working as a doctor, getting my drivers licence, buying a new camera (and a few nice lenses), and start hiking and being more adventurous. Oh, and getting myself a pet dog!

To celebrate dA's 15th birthday, all deviants have been asked to respond to the...
This seemed like it would be fun to do to. I might not have gone for it if it wasn't because I was tagged by a couple of my followers in their own answers (I'd love to meet you too, Lorelei-Photographie, and thank you for listing me among your favourite artists Freckle-F0x ). So, here we go! c:
- How long have you been on DeviantArt?I have been on deviantArt for just over 6 years; for my first three years I used a different account where I uploaded some of the drawings and paintings I did while in secondary school. DeviantArt played a very big role in my discovery of photography as a form of art - I'd actually discovered the site for the first time after a google search for wallpapers for one of my first mobile phones linked me to some awesome colourful fractals on the site! I made an account simply to be able to tell these people their stuff was simply awesome. For the last three years I've been using this account, and I created it shortly after getting the hang of my baby Canon 600D which I'd bought a few months before. This account has seen me develop from a photography noob to a somewhat better amateur photographer, who still can't put the camera down.
- What does your username mean?Haha - my username isn't innovative at all It's pretty much just my name (Sarah), with the BK being the initials for my two surnames - Bugeja Kissaun. My first surname is a typical and common Maltese surname, while the latter is Irish (though my mother is actually Maltese also. The surname was passed down a few generations... with the true Irish man bearing the original surname being my great great grandfather. The surname is believed to be a mistake of the actual Irish surname Kissane, which is believed to have happened somewhere along some old transcriptions). My first account went by the username 'x-Sassy-x' (which was a nickname of mine in secondary school) - I'd come to dislike it with a passion after a while but at the time there was no option to change usernames. Hence, when creating this account I thought that sticking with my real name would save me later regrets.
- Describe yourself in three words.Ponderer. Indecisive. Curious.
- Are you left or right handed?I'm a righty!
- What was your first deviation?Awh - it's probably not on dA, and to be honest, I really cannot remember. What I will link is my very first attempt at photoshop, which I still have uploaded. It's really embarrassing, but looking at it now I think 'I've come so far' - (The Eye of a Star). I'd have never thought I'd be so familiar with Photoshop years down the line!
- What is your favourite type of art to create?Easy - photography. It's pretty much what I do exclusively now and still absolutely love it. I've been through many kinds of art throughout my lifetime though, all of which I enjoyed.
- If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?Probably digital painting, or simply the ability to be able to draw what I see in my mind. I'll never have enough time to develop such an artistic skill because it demands a lot of time and practice. I do admire heavily those that are capable.
- What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?Photography of course! I create loads of photos, and I admire loads of photos
- Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?Ah, very very difficult question. I admire so many artists on here, each creators of art in their own unique way. I think if I had to name one person who left the biggest impact on me during the last three years it would be meganjoy . Her photography is very simple, adorable and technically excellent. There was something about her presence in the community, when she was still more active, which was really tangible. That's not to say I'm dismissing the tens of artists I absolutely adore on here - because they are all still very special to me.
- If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?Everybody I admire and/or have had interesting conversations with on here! One of my dreams is to do a photography meetup with a bunch of photographers and creative minds. One day... c: (I distinctively remember though, I had a dream some months ago where I dreamt I met OliviaMichalski in person )
- How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?So many deviants have made small and big impacts on my life - from the very first photographers I discovered (leading me to discovering the hobby I am most devoted to), to those creating inspirational pieces that really stuck in my mind, to those leaving such valuable feedback on my artwork - even a certain number of favourites let me know that what I have created means something to so many.
- What are your preferred tools to create art?My trusty Canon EOS 600D along with my two favourite lenses - my EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro and EF 40mm f/2.8 STM.
- What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?Well it depends - for my conceptual photographs, ideas crop up in my mind in all sorts of places. Sometimes I'll be in my room, sometimes it'll be when I'm waiting or journeying on a bus... and for me the initiation and development of an idea or concept is part of the creation. As for the actual capturing of such images, I'd say my roof is the best place. It's the only part of my house with fantastic lighting.Being out and about though (especially among beautiful landscapes and nature) is both highly inspirational as well as being a place where I can create numerous photographs depicting nature's wonders. It's not something I can do very much in Malta since I am not much inspired anymore by what it has to offer, but travelling certainly opens many doors for such creations. Nature is so inspiring, and do wish to be permanently based in a country where a simple drive out of the city can take me to such wonders.
- What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?Getting my first Daily Deviation on a photograph that was, at that time, the BEST photograph I could have ever imagined myself coming up with and capturing! Well, I am still very proud of it till today... it's very special to me
I was so excited when the finalised idea just materialised so clearly in my head, that I didn't mind all the experimentation and setting up that it took to make it come to life. I'd never taken anything like it - a completely innovative setup. It received the award within 24 hours of being submitting to deviantArt - that truly took me by surprise!Hope you enjoyed reading some facts about me and my experience on deviantArt! If my response to this questionnaire triggered you to fill out your own... link me! I'd love to read it c:
Wish you all lots of inspiration and deviousness,
Sarah
