Been longing to take a picture with soft yellow lights and candy canes for a few years.. so I'm pretty happy with this shot! I was also lucky to get some nice natural light despite the thick clouds c:
I thought I should give you a little update on things. I think it's become clear to you guys that I'm not really spending much time on deviantArt anymore... traffic started to decrease on my page giving me less incentive to upload my pictures here... and moving country and starting work has taken up increasing amounts of time, not allowing me to spend the hours I would often spend browsing art on dA, submitting my work to groups etc etc. It's just one of those things that had to change.
I've certainly not given up on photography though! I am spending most of my internet-photography-time on instagram now (instagram.com/__sarahbk) as I can browse others' work and upload my photos on the go, and I'm discovering other Scottish photographers whom I am very inspired by and hope to meet one day.
It's been nearly 6 months since I moved to Scotland and about five months since I started working. I feel so happy being here and have never regretted my move for a single second. I've made a number of new friends, had so many memorable experiences and have learnt so so much. My only *minor* complaint at the moment is that the daylight hours are so short in winter, and I can't wait for the days to start getting longer again and hence give me more opportunity to take pictures. I am dying to see snow for the first time though...! It's already snowed further north but we've been hit by a storm with super strong winds this week making it not-so-ideal to venture off into rural scapes.
I'm still shooting with the same camera (although I am very much looking forward to the announcement of the new 6D Mk II - come on, Canon!). I have however invested in a legendary new computer and awesome monitor, which made me notice how ALL my photos were pretty off in terms of colour *cringe* - I have gone back to and fixed a number of my most recent submissions to be more true to how I wanted you to see them! I've also got a new phone (Google Pixel
) and that's allowed me to take some great shots when I didn't have my dSLR to hand.
I do look forward to 2017.
